[SOLVED] Problem logging in new install in subdir

After a new install WonderCMS will not let me login / does not accept the default password. (message 'Wrong password')
Installed in a subdir /wonder (I did include .htaccess)
php version: PHP Version 7.3.33
adblocker in browser deactivated
browser: Latest Chrome / FF / Edge
This occurs with several providers.
Any clue why this happens?
